HURRY!
“It is the mark of the age in which we live that the style becomes the attitude, instead of the attitude becoming the style.” -Gregory David Roberts
New research shows that the average person can pay attention to a video on the web for no more than 1 minute. This says a lot about modern culture. Our attention is conditioned for fits and bursts of stimulation and programming. An LA TIMES article yesterday reported that mogul Michael Eisner is starting a company that will produce 3 minute shorts for the web. Can you imagine watching your favorite program that’s over in 3 minutes? Go pee and you miss the whole show. You gotta ask if your life is being ground up into spaghetti strands of time? A quick text here, a fast chat there, a YouTube flash from your video stash! I'm not suggesting to boycott the web but every so often, boycott the clock. Acknowledge something greater than time that pulls on your strings and prods your soul. As Mary Parrish said, “Love vanquishes time. To lovers, a moment can be eternity, eternity can be the tick of a clock.”
